Learn about the Green Circle Trail
The Green Circle Trail, with is a 27 mile scenic hiking and biking trail the loops through the Stevens Point Area and connects with over 45 miles of additional trails. It winds through forests and parks, over wetlands and along rivers, recalling the days of huge pineries, pioneer settlements and the lore of the Wisconsin and Plover Rivers. The idea for a trail linking parks with other publicly owned land was conceived by John Jury, a former Stevens Point Parks and Recreation Commission Chairperson. A group of active community volunteers formed the "Passive Exercise Trail Committee" and began meeting weekly in March 1989 to develop a plan.
